Stand-Up Meeting

Effective writing is something that each of us can instantly recognize in the novel that we can't stop binging, a poem whose rhymes we can never forget, and the speech that impacts the way we see the world. Effective writing, in short, achieves what a good phone call cannot: it gets you to act.

In business writing, the language is specific, the point of view is clear to readers, and the points are properly conveyed. Good writing is quite difficult to achieve since it involves a lot of training and understanding. Even the best writers get discouraged, but they have to gain confidence by extensively practicing to be excellent writers. Our two-day workshop is intended to assist participants with improving their writing skills.

This workshop is offered to groups of 5 or more.

Workshop Outline

During this session, time will be spent getting to know the participants and explaining the workshop's content. Participants would also be able to determine their own learning goals.

Why Should you Write?

Some people feel encumbered by the need to write, and they question why they cannot simply delegate this responsibility to others. This session shall assist participants in identifying the benefits of effective writing.

Proper Word Agreement

Participants will be instructed on proper word agreement via a lecture and accompanying writing exercises.

Active and Passive Speech

The appropriate use of various types of speech shall be covered in this session.

Types of Sentences

Participants shall be informed of the different types of sentences and paragraphs and be granted the chance to implement this information in a writing exercise.

Improving Readability

The Gunning Fog Index is a formal readability index that judges the ease of reading.  Participants will apply a sample as well as their writing to this index.

Appropriate Vocabulary

Effective writing requires clear vocabulary that accurately reflects what the writer wishes to state.

Inclusivity in Word Choice

Effective writing should be inclusive according to notions of modern political correctness.

Sentence Formation

Participants will be taught about the importance of sentence clarity as well as parallel construction. They will be provided with samples to judge according to this criterion.

Reviewing Your Writing

Participants will be informed of several considerations they should keep in mind when checking their writing.

Proofreading Techniques

Drafting Business Letters

This session consistsof three lectures that will explain how to write a business letter, the different types of business letters, and the different parts of a business letter. Participants shall then examine different business letters and apply the information they have.

Drafting Effective Emails
